The files found in the directory <annex_root>/snmp/sunnetmgr are for
use by those installations running SunNet Manager release 2.0.
These instructions assume that you have already installed SunNet
Manager on your system. If you have not done so, please refer to
the installation instructions accompanying your SunNet Manager release.

ADDING STANDARD MIB SCHEMA FILES

Running "mib2schema" with the files rfc1284, rfc1316, rfc1317, rfc1318,
and rfc1398 found in the directory <annex_root>/src/snmp may result in
errors. The .oid and .schema files for the standard MIBs should be
copied from <annex_root>/src/snmp/sunnetmgr to /usr/snm/agents or
whatever directory you have set up as the default for the SunNet Manager
schema files. If you already have these MIBs converted to .oid
and .schema files, you do not need to copy the files. The following
table indicates which files correspond to which RFC.

	RFC file names
	--- ----------

	1284 rfc1284.oid, rfc1284.schema

	1316 rfc1316.oid, rfc1316.schema

	1317 rfc1317.oid, rfc1317.schema

	1318 rfc1318.oid, rfc1318.schema

	1398 rfc1398.oid, rfc1398.schema

ADDING PRIVATE ENTERPRISE ANNEX-MIB SCHEMA FILE

The Release 8.0 private enterprise Annex MIB in <annex_root>/src/snmp/anx-r8
causes some special problems when communicating with SunNet Manager.

SunNet Manager tries to retrieve the entire port parameter table in
and Annex configuration group in one request. The Annex SNMP agent cannot
handle a message that large and responds with the "tooBig" error.

To resolve this problem, the anx-r8.schema file is provided to organize
the port and Annex configuration parameters into smaller tables. Instead
of running "mib2schema" with the anx-r8 file, just copy the anx-r8.oid
and anx-r8.schema files from <annex_root>/src/snmp/sunnetmgr to the
/usr/snm/agents directory. (The anx-r7.oid and anx-r7.schema files are
provided so that any of your Annexes still running Release 7.0 or 7.1
code can still be monitored by SunNet Manager.)

SunNet Manager will now load the Annex schema files when you start
the SunNet Manager console. See the SunNet Manager documentation for
more information on how to add new devices to the database.

ADDING SAMPLE ANNEX ICONS TO SUNNET MANAGER DATABASE

You may wish to define an icon (or glyph) for the Annex. It is not
necessary to do so to effectively use SunNet Manager. If you wish
to use the provided example icons for the Annex-II, Annex3 and MicroAnnex,
copy the icon definitions in the *.icon and *.iconmask files found
in <annex_root>/src/snmp/sunnetmgr to the /usr/snm/icons directory.

Edit the /usr/snm/struct/elements.schema file to add component definitions
for the three Annex models. See chapter 8 in the SunNet Manager User's
Guide for more information.

Add the following lines to define the components:

record component.annexII ( # Xylogics Annex-II
	string[64] Name
	string[40] IP_Address
	string[40] Contact
	string[40] Location
	string[80] Description
	string[40] SNMP_RdCommunity
	string[40] SNMP_WrCommunity
	string[64] SNMP_Vendor_Proxy
	int SNMP_Timeout
)

record component.annex3 ( # Xylogics Annex3
	string[64] Name
	string[40] IP_Address
	string[40] Contact
	string[40] Location
	string[80] Description
	string[40] SNMP_RdCommunity
	string[40] SNMP_WrCommunity
	string[64] SNMP_Vendor_Proxy
	int SNMP_Timeout
)

record component.microannex ( # Xylogics MicroAnnex
	string[64] Name
	string[40] IP_Address
	string[40] Contact
	string[40] Location
	string[80] Description
	string[40] SNMP_RdCommunity
	string[40] SNMP_WrCommunity
	string[64] SNMP_Vendor_Proxy
	int SNMP_Timeout
)

Add the following lines to allow Telnet commands from the SunNet Manager
Console.

instance elementCommand (
	( component.annexII "Telnet..." "$SNMHOME/bin/snm_cmdtool telnet %Name")
	( component.annex3 "Telnet..." "$SNMHOME/bin/snm_cmdtool telnet %Name")
	( component.microannex "Telnet..." "$SNMHOME/bin/snm_cmdtool telnet %Name")
)

Add the following lines to the elementGlyph table:

( component.microannex microannex.icon )
( component.annex3 annex3.icon )
( component.annexII annexII.icon )
