c3i

Upon entry, c3i displays a global view of the earth. The view may be altered

using the mouse buttons in various combinations combined with cursor motion.

Several keyboard options are also available:

H - Help page

C - Clear Earth

J - Jacks active

W - World database detail

P - Political boundaries

L - Lat/Lng active

T - Turning earth

S - Scenario launch

R - Rings of SDI sallelites active

O - Obits of the rings active

If the scenario is launched without the rings of SDI satelites active, they

impact on the USA, however if the rings are active, the killer satelites will

prevent them from reaching the USA.

Use the <ESC> key or all three mouse buttons simultaneously to exit.

Background:

The program started out as a benchmark, but as it's obvious value grew, it

became a full-fledged demo in short order. Total development time is about

70 hours containing 1600 lines of well commented and spaced code.

The data was obtained from NAVY as 2D lat/lng, from which the 3D image was

preprocessed. The circle behind the earth is a flat disk positioned to be round

to the viewer. The data is double drawn with a clipping plane in the center

of the earth to eliminate the "dark side" of the earth from view. The

less detailed database and political boundaries are public domain. The scenario

is not accurate enough to be anything close to classified, but it's

functionality was derived from a conversation with the Pentagon and is

representative of the real thing in a proof-of-concept sense. The jacks are

there to simply prove the data is 3D.
