			     xkernel v3.2

To get started:

-- Create a new directory below xkernel/build.

-- copy one of the Makefiles from xkernel/build/Template/Makefile
to your new directory as "Makefile".

-- Edit Makefile variables such as HOWTOCOMPILE

-- "make setup" (in your local build directory)

-- Edit your local copy of graph.comp to specify the protocol graph
If you want to use protocols which exercise other protocols, copy
the source code from xkernel/protocols/test to your new directory
and specify the test protocol in your graph.comp.

-- "make compose"
Note: compose will give warning messages for each protocol if the
protocol library doesn't exist. This is OK. If the protocol library
doesn't exist it will be automatically built when you run "make".

-- "make depend"

-- "make"

Some changes from v3.1 to keep in mind:

-- xkernel libraries

Protocols are now compiled into the library
xkernel/protocols/libProt_PLATFORM. (Where PLATFORM is one of
"sunos", "sun3" or something similar. You can compile protocols in
your local build directory and have that code override the library
   versions.

The xkernel itself is now compiled into the library
   xkernel/PLATFORM/libPxk_PLATFORM.

If you make changes to the source code in the protocols or the
xkernel code you need to rebuild the library manually by typing
"make libProt" or "make libPxk" in your build directory.
"make xall" will build all libraries as well as build a local
   kernel.

In a similar fashion, Make targets such as "clean" and "depend" only
work on your local build directory. To remove libraries and
objects for the protocols and kernel code, use "allclean." To
rebuild the dependency list for all of the code, use "alldepend."

-- sunos platform

The simulator rom file now requires the full internet address of
the machine on which the simulated kernels will run. The general
   format is:

	eth localPort 0 0
	arp simulatedIpAddress_1 realIpAddress_1 port_1
	arp simulatedIpAddress_2 realIpAddress_2 port_2
	...

   See xkernel/Template/rom for an example.

-- sun3 platform

User processes are not currently supported in v3.2. You must write
your test programs as kernel protocols -- see
   xkernel/protocols/test for examples.
